LIVE IT!

Tread you may
With caution
Play you may
With time limit
Talk you may
But not your heart out
Laugh you may
But not loud enough
We have learnt
To manipulate
our emotions
From the day
We are born
To the day
We die
We live by the rules
That generations abide.

Deep inside,
As the clock ticks outside
The urge to live
Is tramelled
The reason for
Existence is lost
Inactivity of the soul
Prevails, as if
Bitten by frost

Nature did not
Engineer us like this
But our milieu
Conditioned us like this
To die a hundred deaths;
But not live once,
For now, you exist
You are not living
To live, you live
Only Once

That 'once'
In a lifetime
Is a gift from above
As your days
Are filled with
Passing moments
Catch it if you can
Freeze it if you may
In the frame
Of memories
Where
Laughter is on
Your lips
Twinkle is in
Your eyes
Happiness is writ
No time to fret

You may worry
For a while
But then
You Smile
And take everything
In your stride
No time to chide
Life is a fun-
Filled ride

And then
A realization dawns
There are some things
Out of your control

Look around
There is so much pain
And nothing to gain

What you gain-
Forever Friends
Lovable lover
Prized relations
Memorable moments

So dance in the rain
Watch the sky
Feel the wind
And the sunshine-
That sieves into
Your life
Don't shut it out
For you Live
Only once.

  3. That's a lovely poem, Kislaya. No doubt we keep ourselves confined as per the external and internal pressures, but we must understand to make the most of our lives because there is just one!

    1. Yes Reshma, for most part in our lives we are worrying, and only when moments slip out of our hands, we realise, that we should have also lived in a true sense.
      Thnx :)

These lines were just so well thought of:

  20. You have portrayed the thoughts in a good flow. Very true that most of us live a superficial life. Like we are in the back seat of our own vehicle driven by everybody else.

    1. Oh yes definitely, in life freedom comes from the courage to take risk, who dont risk, dont live in true sense.

  21. Beautifully expressed... we are conditioned to live and act in a certain way and that kills all the fun and exhilaration of trying something new and different or living in the moment!

  24. Kislaya, I'm so glad you offered a comment on my blog, because I have found you.

This is a profound truth: We are conditioned to become, as the songs says, "Another brick in the Wall." It's those moments, and some folks only get one, where you jump off, kick out, break free... I don't know whether you will read this comment, but I'll skip ahead. As for me, my life, every day, is an opportunity to make the leap, because I live all the time, out loud, every day. This is not a brag, but a hope tossed into the river of time for others to realize we can all do the same. Namaste, Amy
