Loneliness grips
Demons grow inside,
In stealth mode
crawl like giant spiders
weave webs of despair
Pitch black darkness
flow through veins
crimson turns muddy,
Heinous monsters
gnaw at flesh
Struggle for control
grope for support,
Kohl soaked tears
trickle on dry lips -
saltiness of life
stares point blank
Demons inside creep
Like parasite -
Feed on the soul;
Drown within -
fathom fears
Stifled
Smothered
Subdued
Stunned...
Gasp for breath -
New lease of life!

Wishing everyone a very blessed Year ahead!!!
I can feel the dark thoughts creeping like spiders. What an apt simile! Was glad of the gasp of new lease on life at the end. A note of hope.
ReplyDeleteYes Sherry, hope is the reason for living! Else we merely exist, not live.
DeleteWhen loneliness grips us like this we need that handrail of hope you give in the final couplet.
ReplyDeleteOf course Bjorn, we all need hope in this world!
DeleteDepression can claw at a soul this way. Thank goodness for those gasps of breath that can restore our hopes.
ReplyDeleteTrue! Thanks for dropping by Rommy!
DeleteSometimes in the darkest times hope appears!
ReplyDeleteYes Mary, like it is said 'Every cloud has a silver lining!'
DeleteThe crimson turning muddy caught me, that overwhelming of life...the last line was a needed gasp.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandlin :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Sanaa!
DeleteThe line breaks add so much to the breaking(ness) this poem sends into the blood. There are pieces crawling inside, trying to rip things... Loneliness can be such a thief, one that tortures before it takes everything it touches.
ReplyDeleteKislaya,
