A GIRL IS BORN

She entered the world
With wide open arms,
She cried at first
then smiled at last

Fear was unknown
Fierce she was -
A lady in the making
Rutilant she was

No-one could tie her
to orthodox views
or persistent patriarchy
that saturated this world

Calm she stayed
whatever come may
She battled all odds
each day, every day

Her will exceeded
her strength,
Always ready
for every challenge

Bravely she faced
all circumstance
and did not leave
anything to Chance

She had the will
to be strong and still
in the face of
greatest upheaval

Unhindered by any
situation, that is dark
Fighting and surviving
gave her a spark

Her desire -
to make a mark
in this ephemeral life,
If needed to tread
alone and survive

Her desire -
to be a Woman
of her own volition,
To be independent and equal
to every other human!

"Well behaved Women seldom make history - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich"

  10. "rutilant" ... What a great word!

    "She had the will
    to be strong and still
    in the face of
greatest upheaval" ... A useful skill, I would think.

  11. I love this song, the echo of a battle-cry, I love the power evoked by the words, the promise of never staying down... I nearly squealed when I read the 8th stanza. I just adore the balance of her being--she understands the world isn't easy or clear, but she is willing to make the best of it... and her best is fantastic.

Also, thank you for the new word. Rutilant makes me think of my head!

A woman has to keep on fighting just to survive in a man's world. It has been a norm for as long as sex separates us!

    1. Yes it is true to some extent! But visionary men have taken steps for upliftment of women! Credit goes to them! Can’t ignore their contribution.
I hope things change soon and for the better.
