(K) KARMIC CONNECTION (#AtoZChallenge 2019)

According to Vedanta philosophy - 'We are Spiritual beings, having a Human experience.' I try to be conscious of this fact. In the rat race of life, it is easy to forget this simple mantra which keeps us happy and at peace with people and situations beyond our control.

The cycle of life and death is related to Karma (our actions in various past lives). I have started believing in this theory more firmly with each passing day.
Why does bad thing happen to good people? The answer is Karma.

I came across an article (translated from holy Bhagavad Gita) which explained that when a child is conceived in a mother's womb; the unborn child chooses his/her parents, family, place of birth according to Karma of previous births. Even parents' Karma influences the nature of the child born to them.

A karmic connection is established before a mother gives birth to her child. Good actions and thoughts should be our constant companion!

Do you also believe in this? Do share your thoughts!

(These AtoZ Challenge posts pertain to my thought process, physical and mental changes, stress levels, perspective, journey and experience as a first-time mother who has yet not delivered her baby.)

  1. Yes, we at the Pranic Healing and my sons school who follow the Art of Living Philosophy also believe in the fact that it is the child's soul who choses the parents based on her own karma and that of the parents.

    1. I believe we are drawn to that which speaks to our inner selves. The West believes the frame is chosen for us, but I believe we choose what to focus upon within that frame. May your future days be blessed and happy. :-)

  2. I absolutely believe we're spiritual beings having a human experience, and like you know that holding this perspective changes everything. I also believe that we do indeed choose our parents, our circumstances, and the things we wish to explore before each of our incarnations. While I suspect my understanding of karma differs a bit from yours, I do absolutely believe our highest soul self is always on a journey of evolving and expanding, and good actions and thoughts make that journey much easier and grace-filled.

  3. This is so interesting. I've never really thought from this perspective but it could be possible that everything is predestined and a child chooses his own family.

  4. Totally agree to this. And you know, since I started practicing Buddhism, the concept of Karma also became clearer to me.

According to their philosophy, Karma is not just some "evil deeds" of past lives for which we are being "punished" now. Rather, it is our thoughts, words and actions that make up our Karma, every single one of them.

And yes, we DO inherit our family Karma as well, which is nothing but the family DNA or the genes that get passed on to us. In other words, it is their thoughts, words and actions, that we are exposed to during our growing up years.

And they also have this concept of "voluntarily choosing our Karma" before we are born. For example, about people with chronic illnesses, they say that such people have taken on some family Karma as a mission to change it. In other words, change some part of the DNA that they have inherited.

    Deep, right? :D

    1. Oh...that is a new concept about DNA that you have brought forth. I have never read about DNA and Karma being related but what you are saying makes sense. I will read more about this.
